Calf Trying To Wake Its Dead Mom

I wept for both the mother and baby elephant when I saw this heart wrenching image in our local newspaper yesterday. Notice the tears in the baby's eyes. Click on image.
It is suspected that the mother elephant along with several others have been poisoned. I hope that whoever did this will be brought to justice. May they rot in hell.

Chinatown

These pics were taken at Petaling Street aka Malaysia's Chinatown. With the Chinese Lunar Year just several weeks away, the place comes alive with shoppers haggling for Chinese New Year goodies at the myriad stalls and shops that line the street.

Chinese New Year Cookies
Asian-style Pork Jerky - a popular Chinese New Year gift
Waxed Duck - A Chinese New Year Staple. Not for me though!
Pussy Willows -  A favourite flower for the Chinese New Year. The fluffy white blossoms of the pussy willow resemble silk, and they soon give forth young shoots the color of green jade. The Chinese enjoy such signs of growth, which represent the coming of prosperity

Last Days Of Summer
The last day of summer, as the first leaves begin to turn, and the first spider spins a web for the morning dew to spangle. With late summer woodland anemones, and a fallen leaf caught in the cobweb.

Lazy Days
Inspired by dreams of lazy summer days, spent swinging gently in the sunshine, sipping something long and cool.

First Snow

Blue Bell Wood
There is nothing quite so beautiful as a carpet of vibrantly coloured Spring bluebells nodding their delicate heads in an English wood. These bluebells have been made from glass seed beads and wire, and the tree has been made purely from twisted and sculpted wire.

Pantai Bersih

These photos were taken at the beach near my in-laws' place. Pantai Bersih in Malay translates as 'clean beach' but the beach hardly lives up to its name!
It's not exactly the kinda beach you wanna take a dip in - the water is icky, mushy and smelly, caused by the  mudflats that are exposed at low tide.

Itty-bitty crabs emerge from their muddy burrows to forage and court when the tide goes out

There is one spectacle grander than the sea, that is the sky; there is one spectacle grander than the sky, that is the interior of the soul.

Street Art

These photos were captured during a recent visit back to Hubby's hometown, Georgetown - a UNESCO World Heritage site in Penang. The paintings were by Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic of international fame.
One for the album
Sadly, the paintings did not weather our sunny and wet climate well and by the time I captured these, time has taken its toll on them and they looked kinda faded, bleached by the rays of the sun.

Sharing instead, the rest of the artist's paintings from other websites when they were in all their original glory.
